Commuter parking at Cajun Field returns to normal effective Friday, October 27.
The Olivier Parking Tower located at 619 McKinley Street will be closed for maintenance Saturday, May 27th through Sunday, June 11th. The tower entrance will close at 12:30 pm on Friday and the exit will close at 6:30 am on Saturday. The elevators for the tower will be shut off at 3 pm on Friday. All floors of the tower will be power washed and new parking space stripes will be painted during this maintenance period. For safety reasons, parking will not be allowed in the permit areas of the garage.
Resident students with zone 22R summer permits may use either the Taft Parking Tower or zone 15 (a.k.a. the EK Long lot located off Girard Park Circle) during this closure. All vehicles will have to move out of the tower before it closes on May 30th.
Employees with zone 22 permits or A permits will be allowed to park their vehicles in the Taft Parking Tower, zone 15 (a.k.a. the EK Long lot) or in the spaces next to Angelle Hall along McKinley Street during the closure. Parking in the Hamilton lot will be allowed however the exit gate leading into the tower will be barricaded closed. The entrance from Tulane Street will temporarily serve as the entrance and exit for the Hamilton lot while the Olivier Parking Tower is closed. Drivers are urged to exercise caution when entering and exiting the lot.
The Credit Union drive through lanes, visitor parking spaces handicap parking spaces closest to the tower entrance will also remain available.
On a separate note, the bump out area in front of the Student Union is a no parking zone. This area is a stop on the new route implemented recently by the UL at Lafayette transit system. No parking will be allowed in this bus stop area along McKinley Street at any time. If temporary parking is needed, the side lot of the Union is now available as a 30 minute public parking area.
